FSX FS9 Tips and Tricks

If you use FSX and FS9 often enough you will notice that you are doing the shift 4 or shift 3 key a lot to bring up GPS.

GPS may also be mapped to any other key. Essentially you use shift and number to bring up various screens.

I find it  easier to change the keyboard mapping to 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 instead of Shift 1,2,3 etc.

One thing some may not like about changing your key mapping. Numbers 1-9 are used for Air Traffic Control. For this reason this idea may not work for some people. I do not find it a problem. However, if ATC is waiting for a response from you and you press 3 for your GPS it will not come up until you have responded to ATC.

In FS9 or FS2004 (It is called either) These are the screens you will follow to re map.

Above click settings and assignments.

Above click in "Panel window 5 display/hide" with your mouse and make 5 your new entry instead of shift 5.

Another good tip

Set your autopilot before you begin taxiing.

Don't turn it on however until you reach cruising altitude.
